These Snickerdoodle Cookies are inspired by Tough Cookie Gabriella who was diagnosed in March of 2012 at four years old with a cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. She endured a year of chemotherapy treatments, weeks of radiation, and multiple surgeries. Through nausea and sickness, she remained focused on the task at hand—fighting for her life. Her family was always so impressed by the grace she exhibited through the difficult days. Today, Gabriella is 10 years old, cancer-free, and thriving.
During this family's treatment journey, they met another local family with a young girl named Tianna fighting the same cancer. These families came together to plan a countywide bake sale for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to raise funds for improving pediatric cancer treatments. Shortly after Tianna passed away at 14, they decided that more needed to be done. Together the families created a non-profit foundation called “Team G Childhood Cancer” to fund childhood cancer research and give support to parents throughout care packages they call “hope totes.” The families are honored to partner once again with Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to fulfill the mission of fighting childhood cancer one good cookie at a time.
