Frequently Asked Questions
ABOUT US
What is the mission of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer?
Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is committed to raising funds for research to develop new, improved and less toxic treatments for pediatric cancer, the #1 disease killer of children in the U.S. We provide inspiration and support for individuals, businesses and organizations to raise funds by hosting grassroots events like bake sales, dress up or dress down days, athletic challenges and other fundraising events.
How did Cookies for Kids’ Cancer get started?
It all started with 96,000 cookies... When 2-year-old Liam Witt was diagnosed with childhood cancer in 2007, his parents Larry and Gretchen were shocked to learn of the lack of effective treatments for pediatric cancers due to lack of funding. They pledged to support the funding of research for safer, more effective treatments for children battling cancer. With the help of 250 volunteers, his mom Gretchen baked and sold 96,000 cookies, raising more than $400,000 for research. Word spread, and people nationwide began asking, “How can I help?”
Is Cookies for Kids’ Cancer a registered non-profit?

Can anyone host a bake sale or other type of fundraiser?
Yes! We believe that everyone can make a difference and get involved. In the past, bake sales and other events like dress down days, hat days, 5K races and runs, mitzvah projects, dodgeball tournaments and so many more have been organized by families, businesses, organizations, schools, and other devoted volunteers. It’s totally up to you!
I’m holding a bake sale. What should I charge for my baked goods?
We recommend that you don’t set a price, but ask supporters to make a donation instead. Accepting donations of any amount encourages generosity as well as allowing anyone to enjoy a cookie (or other baked good) and learn about Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.
How do I turn in the money I raise?
You can donate any funds you collect directly to your fundraising page via debit card or credit card. If you have checks or money orders to send us, use the donation form in your prepaid return envelope and send to Cookies for Kids' Cancer, PO Box 415, Califon, NJ 07830. Please do not send in cash.
COOKIES
Is there a detailed ingredient list for your products?
What is the shelf-life of your cookies?
Ideally, our cookies are enjoyed within a week which is the peak of freshness. Does that mean they can’t be eaten past a week? Absolutely not, this is just a general guideline. Depending on the cookie, some stay fresher longer. If you want to preserve their freshness, cookies freeze really well for up to six months. Just remember to wrap them tightly to prevent freezer burn. (Cookies don’t like to be exposed to the elements!) When you’re ready for a treat, pop them in the microwave or oven for a few minutes and enjoy!
Do your products contain nuts?
Our cookies are made in a facility that uses peanuts, tree nuts, milk, and soy. Trace amounts of these allergens may be in any of our cookies.
Are your products Kosher?
Although our ingredients are Kosher, including our eggs and butter, our baking facility is not Kosher certified.
Do you have gluten-free cookies?
We do not currently offer a gluten-free cookie but check back soon!
