Easton
Easton Elizabeth Mills was born on August 3, 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio. She lived every day of her two years and nine months to the fullest and was always the life of the party. Easton’s larger than life personality filled every room she entered and to know her was to love her. She thoroughly enjoyed playing with, and often harassing, her brother. Easton’s other hobbies included: swimming, horseback riding, emulating Disney princesses and going to the Lake Norman YMCA with her mommy each day!
On May 4, 2017 Easton became lethargic and fell asleep, waking only on occasion. While under evaluation at the hospital, Easton stopped breathing on her own and a breathing tube was inserted. Further tests revealed that a rare, aggressive tumor, known as an AtRt tumor had compressed Easton’s brain stem and that she was clinically brain dead. The doctors at Levine Children’s Hospital described the tumor as one of the most aggressive and largest tumors they had ever seen in a 2 year old. Easton quietly passed away surrounded by her parents and loved ones, on the afternoon of May 5th. Until the prior day, she never showed one sign of illness nor complained of any pain. She attacked life each day with joy and love and left an indelible mark on those who knew her. Easton was one amazingly tough cookie.
Easton’s family often called her by a nickname, “East”, which befit her personality as she was like the sun rising each day. Easton’s friends and family miss her terribly every day but know she’s watching over them and expecting them to carry out their lives as she would have. Through Cookies for Kids Cancer we hope to raise money for research that will allow doctors to find cures for all forms of pediatric cancers. Easton’s motto was always “I help!” No matter how big or small the task, “I help!” was the battle cry. Through her story and your generosity, we strive to continue her legacy! Thank you.
