Haldora
Haldora was diagnosed with T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in March of 2011, a very rare form of the disease, when she was just 2 and ½ years old. She was only given a 70% chance of surviving the next 5 years. She endured countless chemo treatments, spinal chemo treatments, cranial radiation, pokes, and procedures. She lost weight, lost her hair, battled pain, nausea and even rage from the steroids – she was quite a fighter. Through it all her top supporter and twin brother, Good Cookie Hunt, was by her side, making her laugh, encouraging her to play and have fun, which, for those precious moments between treatments, allowed her to be a kid. Hunt wasn’t going to let cancer take away his sister. That special bond carried Haldora through nearly 2 ½ years of treatment and helped her become the vivacious and precocious reader, writer, champion speller, soccer player, dancer, and baker she is today. In March of 2016 Haldora reached her survivor day, and while we are endlessly hopeful for what is to come, we know, come what may, Haldora and Hunt will get through it together.
