Mira
Mira loved music, painting, Disney princesses and being the doctor for her dolls (and family). Some of our most cherished, more recent pictures, and memories are of Mira meeting princesses at Disney or dressing up in princess dresses and dancing around. She was 22 months old when she was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in May of 2015. Shortly after, she underwent four rounds of chemotherapy, all of which were very hard on her little body. After months in the hospital, she finished treatment and had a relatively normal life in remission for four months. After a relapse in February of 2016, Mira had a bone marrow transplant on May 13, 2016. On the morning of February 11, 2019, Mira left our family way too soon, with memories to cherish for the rest of our lives. We have experienced how treatments developed for adults are much more toxic for children and we want to do everything we can to help other families.
