Noah

Noah was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma, a pediatric cancer of the skeletal muscles, on March 17, 2016 – three days before his 14th birthday. Noah’s treatment included 14 months of chemotherapy and 28 days of radiation at the Hemby Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Center at Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. Noah was declared cancer free on May 25, 2017. The results of a bone marrow aspirate, CT scan of his chest and MRI of his face showed no evidence of disease. It was a long battle, and Noah fought it every day for 14 months with bravery, toughness, perseverance and sense of humor. He is a hero and inspiration to so many people. The greatest chance for recurrence of cancer is within the first year of remission. Noah had his three-month scans on August 17, 2017. A CT of his chest and an MRI of his face were performed. Everything was clear and looked good. He repeated these same scans again on December 4, 2017, and things continue to progress positively. His six-month scans looked good and were identical to what they were at three months.

Noah is a sophomore at Concord (N.C.) High School. He enjoys spending time with his friends. He was unable to attend school for almost one year while undergoing treatment, and he missed his friends more than anything else during this time. Before being diagnosed with cancer, Noah played lacrosse. Noah likes watching sports and playing PlayStation. His favorite teams are the Carolina Panthers, Oakland A’s, Philadelphia 76ers and North Carolina Tar Heels. He also an avid baseball and football card collector. Noah would like to study sports journalism and/or sports management in college. He worked as an intern in the equipment department for the Carolina Panthers at training camp this past summer.
