Harlan

Harlan "The Hero": Remarkable, vivacious, courageous. Harlan's smile and giggle will forever be remembered as infectious and constant during his nearly four years of life. This never faltered during his battle with a rare type of brain cancer; Grade II Ependymoma. In February 2013, just two months after turning two, Harlan's battle began. He fought through a total of two diagnosis, two craniotomies, four cycles of high dose chemotherapy, 66 total proton beam radiation treatments, six Avastin infusions and countless sedations and "boo boos" before earning his wings just six weeks shy of turning four years old.

While raging the battle, Harlan's love for John Deere tractors, Thomas, Pixar's Cars, and Play-Doh never wavered, even after loosing his ability to walk, talk freely, and play independently. Harlan was wise beyond his years and was completely aware of the changes in his life due to cancer. Regardless, he never lost his spirit and continued to persevere.
